"Imagine surfing on the north coast of Cornwall in the turquoise and white foaming waters of Watergate Bay on a sunny spring afternoon. Imagine riding down a big rolling wave, its crest behind you. And then you go in, head first. You are caught in the washing machine effect of the breaking rollers as they crash down around and over you. As a novice, you wonder, which way is up? Perhaps this is what it's like when you are surfing with mermaids."
